i recentenly went boating and got really bad sunburn on my back and it hurts really bad.
Answer:
Try ice, wrap it up in a towel or washcloth. That will stop the "cooking" process and lower the temperture of the skin. don't use vinegar,
Natural aloe is good straight from the plant. Cut off a spike, split it down the middle to scoop or rub it directly on your skin, it will work!
try some aloe vera jel and cool wash cloths.
get some rest. you'll feel better soon.
Ice packs.
Aloe vera jell
aloe lotion i think
If you've blistered or the burn is very severe you may need to see your dr for an antibiotic instead.
If not, put aloe vera or cocoa butter in the fridge and then put it on.
When I get a sunburn I rub Aloe Vera gel on it. It seems to help from the pain and helps to keep your skin moisturized so when you peel it doesn't end up looking like you have spots.
You can get FOILE ointment from your pharmicist it works verry well.
If you have sun block around the house, then put that on. It has some stuff that helps sunburns. I went tanning for my first time a couple years ago and was so sunburn to the point where I was walking funny. A close friend told me to put sunblock on. It worked and I'm so glad I did it. =)
I'm sorry that this happened to you. Burns are miserable.
If you have blisters ( second degree burns) over more than about 1/4 of your back, I'd go to a hospital. You need pain relief, and the burns could become infected. After the blisters drain, the healing will begin, but the skin will get very itchy as it sheds dead skin. This too is a miserable sensation. Ice packs can help, but really you should ask for pain medication, something like Percocet.
aloe vera!! and after I put it on, I find that if i blow on it lightly, or get one of those tiny fans and hold it up to it, it feels SO GREAT!
oh yes i have it right now and it doesn't hurt put aloe gel on it every night with out washing it off and sleep in it. only wash it off if your takng a bath but you should put it on when you get in bed. it might itch a little.
have someone put vinegar/water mix on your back or use milk...both will take the sting out of a sunburn...next time please remember to use a sunblock, not sunscreen...the time of day you are out is the most dangerous time for the rays the sun sends...getting a sunburn is a dangerous thing these days...
Try taking just plain aspirin for the pain. Anti-inflammatory. Keep your skin cool if you can. Cool showers, a fan. Oily creams will actually trap the heat in your skin (that's why distance swimmers oil up in cold water). Aloe might help. You could try something like Solarcaine spray. Otherwise, time is the healer.
Sorry for you.
There are also lots of after-sun creams and lotions available. The best ones contain calamine or aloe vera. Avoid greasy creams as these tend to trap the heat. You could also try lavender essential oil applied undiluted.
If you have a blistering of the skin then you need to prevent a secondary infection by keeping the area clean and by applying an antibacterial cream. Seek medical help if the area does not improve.
My grandmother always said to use vinegar. Pour vinegar in a bowl and soak a washcloth in the bowl for a few seconds. Ring out the washcloth. Then placed the washcloth flat on your skin. Then when you can feel the heat in the washcloth take it off and repeat placing the washcloth back into the bowl and repeat. Yeah I know you will smell like a Easter egg but trust me it has worked for me 22 years. Then when you take a shower or bath don't scrub, wipe lightly across the skin. When done bathing apply actual aloe Vera gel to your skin. When the pain and sting go away use some lotion too this will keep you from peeling! Good luck!
You might want to try ibuprofin or tylenol for the pain. Also try putting some baking soda in your bath water. Baking soda in the bath water takes the soreness out of sunburn. It also works to take the itch out of mosquito bites
