It's pretty much a myth. Contact solutions have a surfactant, though, like a soap, that could cause diarrhea. It is unwise to ingest contact solutions.
a kid just got into big legal trouble cuz he put saline solution (found in contact solution) in his teachers coffee. It hospitalized the teacher.
